I keep getting this error when I try to update the cache or manage locations:

Fatal error: Call to a member function getTagName() on a non-object in /home/xxxx/public_html/components/com_zweather/zweather.class.php on line 585

Anybody know why this is?

This error is in the 24 hour forecast XML parsing. Has it worked before and just recently generated this message or has it not worked at all? If your location is showing an XML file for the 24 hour forecast, open it up (click on the 24hour forecast cache icon in the location manager) and see if there are any error messages in it.

The first 2 lines of the XML file should look something like:

<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<dwml version="1.0" ...

The program is not seeing the "dwml" in the second line. What are you seeing in the first few lines of the XML file?

I can't do anything in the location manager, I just get this error, and the rest of the page doesn't process. So, I can't click on the icon.

I'm seeing the same error message. I was using 5.03 and
started getting this error so I upgraded to 6.0. I'm seeing
it on a 1.0.15 Joomla site and on a 1.5 site. I also can't
get to the location page because I see this error on this
page as well.

Where is the XML file being downloaded so I can look at it's
second line?

Thanks for any info

To add to the strangeness of this, I've got two web servers
and Zweather is working on one, and broke on the other.
Unfortunately the systems are quite different, Debian, PHP4
on the working one, and Gentoo PHP5 on the broken one.
When I capture the conversation with TCPdump the broken one
does have a conversation, but it's shorter than the working
one. We're now suspecting the XML of getting munged between
the time it comes in and the time it reaches Zweather. I'll
post more when we know more.

OK, apparently this is a problem with libxml, in particular
libxml 2.7.1 and not fixed in 2.7.2. It's silently eating the
< and > characters and causing parse errors.
See bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=45996
for more information. phpinfo() will let you know what version
of libxml you've got. Gentoo seems to be pushing this version
of libxml.
